Is Netflix Reviving Jericho?

Well, the rumor mill just keeps on churning on this one.

It's appearing more and more likely that Netflix is seriously looking into acquiring the rights and bringing a return to Jericho.

According to TV Guide, (I know this article is from a couple months ago, but this article is now resurfacing on a lot of blogs):

Repeats of Jericho remain popular on Netflix's on-demand service, even four years after the show's cancellation. Insiders say Netflix execs would love to emulate the revival of Fox's Arrested Development, which is expected to return on Netflix with new episodes in 2013, seven years after the show ended its run. Like Arrested fans, Jericho's are a passionate bunch: CBS renewed the post-apocalyptic show for a second season in 2007 after viewers bombarded the network with cases of peanuts.

I honestly think that Jericho fans might be some of the most passionate fans I've come across on the Internet in the past few years. It's fascinating to see what types of things people can get accomplished when people try hard enough to get things done.

If Jericho fans continue to fight, I think that it's only a matter of time until we see a return of the show on Netflix Instant.

What do you think? Do you think that Netflix should revive Jericho?

I hope so. Also hope they pretend season two didn't happen. It sucked, relatively.

I really hope that Netflix brings back Jericho with many more seasons!! It is one of the best shows CBS ever produced and it was a sad day when they cancelled the show for the second time. It never really had a chance to tell it's complete story!

There is still so much of the Jericho story to be told. The amazing amount of story the writers were able to cram into the short second season left old & new fans wanting more. The cast & crew of Jericho were dedicated to bringing as much story as they possibly could with just a short amount of episodes that were granted by CBS. Jericho was & remains the only scripted drama that I did not DVR or wait to stream on the CBS website, I was always too excited to delay viewing of the next episode one minute longer than necessary.

I want this one to come back! My thoughts are that the gov't had a play in cancelling a show of this type. Much like htey didn't want John Ross to print, Unintended Consequences

I have been a fan of Jericho since day 1. I really didn't get into the fan movement until the first cancellation. I have made so many friends through Jericho and I am happy to see that many are still here.

Bringing back Jericho would be a great thing. It was a great show and since I am a member of NetFlix, I would pay more money per month for auch a show.

Good for Netflix for identifying an awesome opportunity to do something really great and revive a quality TV show whose followers are very passionate! I like the direction Netflix is heading in...

This would be a very smart move for Netflix. JERICHO has millions of fans and would instantly increase the subscribers to Netflix. Good business decision for Netflix to move forward on this deal.

I watched Jericho when it was on TV, and I thought it was a decent show...fairly captivating premise and interesting plots week to week, if less thank great acting. But I did rewatch some on Netflix last month and was glad to see it back there. A Jericho revival on Netflix, with new episodes, would be an awesome experiment to see. I hope it happens!

I love the idea of this but Jericho would have to be a very expensive show to produce which is the main reason why Netflix said "no" to Terra Nova.

Now, I am not suggesting that it would be nearly as expensive, however, the difference now is that Jericho has been off of he air for several years now and unlike when it was on CBS, its sets don't exist anymore and would have to be rebuilt form scratch and that's a lot of money. At least with Terra Nova, that money was already spent by 20th Century Fox Television Studios and they were already in place.

It's simply an impractical exercise for Netflix just as Reed Hastings pointed out that resurrecting Firefly is (which is even more popular) for the same reasons.

Arrested Development is a comedy with little needed in the arena of production costs when it comes to sets.

I'm not saying it won't happen but I'm not getting my hopes up.

I enjoyed both Jericho and Terra Nova and I think its a shame that they were cancelled. I really would love to see the series continue. I know that seasons 3 & 4 were made into a comic book so that fans could at least get a continuation, but I think those seasons should be recreated and broadcast. I think its funny that these shows were dropped because of poor ratings, I'd like to talk to Nelson an see if he even likes SciFi.
